‘Blood of Zeus’ Rushed Ending Left Room for the Most Controversial Prequel Spin-off We’re Not Ready For

The ending of Blood of Zeus, while wrapping up the legendary Greek mythology-inspired saga, also felt rushed. Several plotlines felt unfinished, and the development of side characters was hindered due to Netflix’s decision to condense the story. The rushed ending, however, left room for a prequel about the Big 3 – Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades.

Fans who saw the Big 3 team up in the series’ finale want a spin-off prequel series that shows the events of the Titanomachy. This idea, while having potential, will force us to see more of Zeus, one of the most hated characters in the series, and no one wants that.

A Blood of Zeus spin-off prequel with the Big 3 would be great

As rushed as the ending of Blood of Zeus was, no one can deny the fact that the Big 3 gods (Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades) looked absolutely amazing in the finale. The way the three of them teamed up against their father, Cronos, and used their respective powers to hold him back was a feast to watch. While the scene showcased the exceptional bond of the gods, it also showed us just how awesome the three can be when working together.

Zeus and Poseidon especially had a lot of moments to shine in the fight. Poseidon binding Cronos while Zeus struck him with lightning was a simple move made amazing. We rarely got to watch the Big 3 fight together, and seeing them fight to honor Heron’s sacrifice was one of the best moments in the entire story.

While the rushed ending of Season 3 disappointed the audience, the moment of the Big 3 teaming up against Cronos gave them an idea. What if the showrunners of Blood of Zeus gave us a spin-off prequel that showed us the events that took place during the Titanomachy? This would ease the pain of the fans who hated the ending, while also giving them more Blood of Zeus content.

For those who are unaware, in Greek mythology, the Titanomachy is a ten-year war between the Titans and the Olympians during which the Gods, the Cyclopes, and the Hundred-Handed Ones subdued Cronos (the Percy Jackson fans must be having a field day with this one), following which he was imprisoned in Tartarus. For Blood of Zeus fans, this event precedes Heron’s birth, which is why it would be a prequel to the show.

I can’t lie the big 3 looked badass in the final. Now they need their own show. A prequel about the Titanomachy would be epic.

This idea is full of potential because not only would it give fans more Big 3 content, but it would also serve to deepen the lore of the series by showing how Cronos was defeated in the past. Just imagine seeing an entire army of Gods, Cyclops, and Hecatoncheires (the Hundred-Handed Ones) fighting against the Titans. We can already see Poseidon flooding the entire battlefield, setting up Zeus for a mighty lightning attack.

While this idea for a Blood of Zeus has immense potential (just look at the above ideas), we must also acknowledge the fact that this prequel, while giving us a lot more of the Big 3, will force us to see more of Zeus, and no one wants to see him.

The audience is sick of Zeus

Let’s face it. No one likes Zeus. The dude thinks he’s the ultimate lightning daddy with his fancy lightning bolt, but in truth, he is a terrible leader, an absent father, a cheating husband, and HE SHOULD HAVE STAYED DEAD! Sorry about that. Zeus is the epitome of unlikeability. His cheating on Hera is the reason why she turned against him, and we were relieved when he died.

But of course, Blood of Zeus had to step all over our joy and bring back the deadbeat father of the century. We are sure that the fans were relieved by the show’s ending because it meant that they wouldn’t have to see Zeus ever again, but giving the series a prequel about the Titanomachy will once again put Zeus at its centre.

It’s not like we can just ignore Zeus. The story kinda revolves around him. He is the one who rescues his brothers and sisters from his father’s stomach (yeah, crazy right? That’s Greek mythology for you) and leads them against him. Ignoring a character like this is impossible, but tolerating his attitude and boasting is worse.

Wanting a show about an epic event like the Titanomachy is a great idea which will expand the lore of Blood of Zeus and give us more of Cronos and the Olympians, but if the key to getting a show like this is tolerating Zeus, then we’d rather not have it, thank you very much.

Blood of Zeus is currently available to stream on Netflix.
