Today’s meeting at the Ministry of Tourism between the President of the Hellenic Motorhome Club (ELAT), Elisabeth Michaelidou, members of the Board of Directors of ELAT, and representatives of the Ministry concluded in a positive atmosphere. The meeting focused on the issue of stopping and parking of motorhomes, on the occasion of article 27 of Law 5170/2025.
During the meeting, full agreement was confirmed regarding the direction of the legislation of this article, which allows the stopping and parking of motorhomes in accordance with the provisions of the Road Traffic Code. At the same time, the need to protect public spaces and the natural and cultural environment from abusive and arbitrary occupations was underlined.
Following a proposal by ELAT, the Ministry of Tourism recognized the need to create an institutional framework for the provision of special temporary parking areas for motorhomes (Camper Stop) and committed to proposing that the relevant Ministries take the relevant initiative.
Ms. Michaelidou, in her previous statements to Tornos News, had emphasized the importance of the legislative regulation for the stopping and parking of motorhomes, noting that its implementation will contribute to the development of tourism with motorhomes and the strengthening of local economies.
This meeting constitutes an important step towards the institutional recognition and support of tourism with motorhomes in Greece.
