ASTORIA – ‘Princess Anna of Byzantium: The Rock Musical’ returns for one night only on Saturday, May 10, 6:30 PM, to the Thespis Theatre of the Hellenic Cultural Center, 25-02 Newtown Avenue in Astoria.
This unique musical experience through Greek history is set in the year 988 AD, the Heroic Age of Basil II Emperor of Byzantium, and chronicles Basil II’s sister Princess Anna Porphyrogenita, and her world-rocking marriage to Grand Prince Vladimir of the Kievan Rus. The story of Princess Anna Porpyrogenita (aka Anna and Vladimir) is told through Hard Rock and Metal and a Greek Folk orchestra.
The show is directed by Thea Gibbs and Christos Alexandrou. Sound Engineer is Aaditya Pandit. The narrators are Despina Chrissochos and Robert Sulea.

The show features Elaine Tuttle Christos Alexandrou, Dorit, and Demetris Karais on vocals, Vassilios “Billy” Chrissochos on guitar, Mike “Risko” Savvas on guitar and tzoura, David Gibbs on bass, John Themelis on violin, Vassilis Vassiliadis on laouto, Sophia Theodorou on flute, Richard Khuzami on percussion, Rex Rossbach on drums, plus special guests.
