Theo Evan: 10 Facts about Cyprus’ Eurovision 2025 singer


It’s no secret anymore! Cyprus has placed all their trust in their representative, Theo Evan, who is ready to make them proud at Eurovision 2025 in Basel this May with his hit song “Shh.”

Theo was the first Eurovision 2025 artist to be announced this year. He was selected internally, as Cyprus has not held national selections since 2015.

Cyprus has never won Eurovision before, so perhaps this year is the time to turn the tables!

1.   He is from Nicosia

Theo was born on May 16, 2002, in Nicosia, Cyprus, into a Greek-Cypriot family. His birthday is actually the Friday before the grand final. 

2.    He’s been on the stage since he was 7

Theo didn’t waste any time. He started learning to perform both as a singer and a dancer at the age of 7, preparing himself for his upcoming career.

3.    He is also a songwriter

Theo is not only a singer but also a songwriter, having worked on his Eurovision track as well. In fact, he started writing songs at a very early age, even as a teenager.

4.    Music and theater? Why not!

Theo was eager to explore as many artistic fields as possible from a young age. He appeared in a series of theater productions and even participated in talent shows for kids in Cyprus.

5.    He graduated at a prestigious music collage in America

After graduating from The English School in Nicosia, Theo Evan decided to spend some years in the United States to study music and performance at Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. As expected, he later graduated with honours.

6.   He wanted to start his music career in Cyprus

Even though he lived in Los Angeles for a time, Theo wanted to return to Cyprus and start his music career there. In 2021, he released his first single in Cyprus, titled “The Wall.”

7.    He appeared in Euphoria 

Euphoria is an American teen drama series that became fast famous worldwide. Theo made an apparence in the series during the seventh episode of the second season. 

8.    Strong musical inspirations 

Theo has been inspired by some strong music figures. He is a big fan of Stromae and Michael Jackson, and he also enjoys listening to reggaetón.

9.   First Cypriot to represent Cyprus since 2017

After a long period during which Cyprus was represented by contestants of different nationalities, often Greeks, Theo is actually the first Cypriot to represent his country since 2017.

10. His Eurovision song is inspired by Greek mythology

His Eurovision song, “Shh,” is inspired by Greek mythology, specifically the story of Narcissus. Narcissus was a beautiful young boy desired by many, yet he rejected everyone until the day he fell in love with his own reflection in a water pool. Trying to reach his reflection, he drowned and was reborn as the flower that bears his name.
