From the 50th Annual Pecan Street Festival to the 2025 Austin Greek Festival in Westlake, here are 10 events to check out in May in the Lake Travis-Westlake area. This list is not comprehensive. Events are subject to change.

Lakeway Steps towards Hope-Community Walk

The community walk will raise awareness and support for mental health by benefitting NAMI Central Texas, a group dedicated to improving the quality of life for people with mental illnesses through education, support and advocacy.

50th Annual Pecan Street Festival

The festival, typically held in downtown Austin, is an arts celebration featuring over a hundred local and national artists. The festival will include 30 food vendors, kid-friendly activities like petting zoos and face painting, and a range of performances by Austin musicians, according to its website.

‘Disney’s Alice In Wonderland JR.’

The Academy Series show from TexArts follows Alice on her journey through a strange new world called Wonderland, meeting the likes of the Mad Hatter, the Cheshire Cat, the Queen of Hearts and more.

Mother’s Day Mommy & Me Yoga

The event, hosted by BirthCo. Chiropractic + Wellness, allows mothers to bring their children to a yoga session. No experience is necessary, and a certified instructor will guide participants through poses. Children must be at least 2 years old to participate.

Cinco de Mayo

The event will feature live Mariachi music and traditional dancing alongside tacos from Taco Flats, a piñata for kids, a mocktail margarita machine and more.

Lemonade Day

Kids and youth organizations can set up a lemonade stand in Lakeway this May to allow young entrepreneurs to learn about hard work, creativity and more.

Walk to Cure Arthritis Austin

The event will benefit the Arthritis Foundation, which aims to find a cure for arthritis. Participants can start or join a team, or walk as an individual and work to collect donations, with a goal of reaching $75,000.

Bee Cave Arts Foundation 7th Annual Members Exhibition Opening Reception

An opening reception will be held for the Bee Cave Arts Foundation Member Exhibition, which runs from May 7-Aug. 15. The exhibit showcases artwork for sale by over 70 local artists. Refreshments and light bites will be provided at the reception.

2025 Austin Greek Festival

The sixth annual event will include opportunities to eat Greek food and watch Greek dance performances, plus participate in Greek dance lessons, check out kid-friendly activities, listen to live Greek music, buy souvenirs and more.

Summer Opening Weekend

Westbank Libraries will hold two summer opening weekend events at its libraries. The May 31 summer opening weekend event will feature balloon twisting, a performance by Joe McDermott, face painting with Lady B and a visit from mini horses. The June 1 event will include facepainting alongside snow cones from Kona Ice and a performance from One Man Steel Drum Band.
