As thousands of UK holidaymakers prepare to jet off to sunny destinations this year, there is always one issue at the forefront of everyone’s mind – packing.

For some the process is therapeutic, but for others it can be very stressful as travellers try to remember everything they may need on holiday.

But fear not, the travel experts at Which? have compiled a list of essential items you may need when making the trip abroad this summer.

The body for consumer insight suggested three holiday products its experts could not live without while enjoying a getaway.

First on the list was a sleeping mask, which travel experts state ensures holidaymakers can sleep on a “plane, train or if my hotel room’s too brightly lit – then I can still get a good night’s sleep.”

The second tip suggested by Which? was advising holidaymakers to bring along a portable battery pack.

A travel expert said she “absolutely rinses” the battery of her phone while taking photos, using Google Maps and Google Translate.

She added her personal phone was a slightly older model, which frequently needed charging.

The third piece of advice Which? lent to UK tourists covered insect protection.

The travel specialist said: “Mosquito repellent with DEET because I always get bitten really badly.”

Under Which?’s TikTok video, a surge of holidaymakers responded with their own thoughts regarding the recommendations.

One tourist said: “I should definitely buy a battery pack, always ending up with five per cent [battery] by midday.”

Another added an additional holiday tip for individuals who may be travelling alone, or just want to feel that bit safer.

The savvy traveller said: “A door stop to place at the hotel door so no one can enter if I’m alone.”

Some people even humorously pointed out a passport was also a really essential item for travel.
