Where are you guys from? The song is about the genocide the Turks committed against the Greeks from 1919 – 1923. If you listen to the lyrics, the Turkish henchmen systematically went into Greek villages, rounded up the people in the churches and then systematically set them on fire. Hence the address to the mother in the first verse, they can burn us, but the flames cannot defeat us, the Greek spirit survives, even in the region, in this case I think it refers to the Pontus region, northern Turkey, the Black Sea coast, as she herself is a Pontian. No dancers can put on any dance performances there now. The song is too serious for that.
I was wondering what country you were from, now I know lol. Good luck to Greece, although to be honest it is not one of my favorites this year.
Marina Satti was the worst! Klavdia is my Nr.1
May be if you kept your comments during the performance to a minimum you would be able to enjoy it more !
Greece ❤❤❤❤❤❤
if it isnt a masterpiece ,then what is…?
I think you have completely missed the point here about the staging. This is a very emotional song, it's a poem/μοιρολόι that talking about people who lost or lose their roots, destiny and not necessarily only about people migrated or displaced. The staging has to fit the song and the lyrics. KlaVdia's outfit and the choreography are spot on. What would you expect? A half naked KlaVdia dancing with Smurfs? Really?😂
💥 Asteromata" is an ethnic song that talks about refugeehood and uprooting.
In fact, the term "asteromata" is a traditional description used in city Smyrna/izmir to describe women with bright and striking eyes.
The message of the song talks about the loss of one's homeland and the search for a better life.
Klavdia drew her inspiration from the history of Pontic Hellenism, highlighting the genocide and uprooting of the Pontians.
STAR-EYED GIRL
My star, my star
My sweet mama don't cry even if they dress you in Black
My faded body flames cannot defeat it
The swallows of fire even if they cross seas never forget the soil of their roots.
My little star-eyed girl turn so I can kiss you
With your holy tears let me extinguish my lips
My little star-eyed girl turn to me so I can catch you
My forgotten wings finally resting
Ah, my star, my treasure
My sweet mama don't you cry
My life is a boat searching for the way back and my sail for wind
My little star-eyed girl turn to me so I can catch you
My forgotten wing finally resting
Ah, my star, my treasure
Ah, my star, my treasure
My star

Symbolism of the spiral of the Dress: Search Google with "spiral in ancient Greek art”, to see lots of spirals.
The spiral (05:15) blends the circle’s unity with dynamic movement, symbolized time, growth, and the continuous flow of life in ancient Greek culture. It appeared in art, architecture, and sacred symbols, embodying the rhythms of existence, the breath of life, and the soul’s journey through change and evolution.
Closely linked to the labyrinth, it represented initiation, destiny, and the cosmic web woven by the Mother Goddess. In the metaphysical realm, it signified the soul’s wanderings through different states of being, ultimately leading back to the center—a return to wisdom, order, and enlightenment.

Title: Αστερομάτα / Starry-eyed (feminine)
Αστέρι μου / My star
Αστέρι μου/ My star
Γλυκιά μου μάνα μη μου κλαις / My sweet mother don't cry
Μαύρα κι αν σου φορούνε / Even if they dress you in black
Το ξέθωρο το σώμα μου / My faded body
Φλόγες δεν το νικούνε / Flames cannot defeat it.
Τα χελιδόνια της φωτιάς / The swallows of fire
Θάλασσες κι αν περνούνε / Even if they cross seas
Του ριζωμού τα χώματα / The land of the roots
Ποτέ δε λησμονούνε / they never forget.
Αστερομάτα μου μικρή / My little starry-eyed
Γύρε να σε φιλήσω / turn (return) so I can kiss you
Στα άγια σου τα δάκρυα / At your sacred (holy) tears
Τα χείλη μου να σβήσω / to quench my lips.
Αστερομάτα μου μικρή / My little starry-eyed
Γύρε μου να σε πιάσω / turn (return) so I can catch (hold) you
Τα ξεχασμένα μου φτερά / My forgotten wings
Στερνά να ξαποστάσω / Finally to rest.
Αχ αστέρι μου, τζιβαέρι μου / Ah my star, my treasure.
Γλυκιά μου μάνα μη μου κλαις / My sweet mother don't cry
Καράβι είναι η ζωή μου / My life is a ship (boat)
Που ψάχνει για το γυρισμό / which yearns to return
Αγέρα το πανί μου / with wind on my sail.
Αστερομάτα μου μικρή/ My little starry-eyed
Γύρε μου να σε πιάσω / Turn (return) so I can hold you
Τα ξεχασμένα μου φτερά / My forgotten wings
Στερνά να ξαποστάσω / Finally to rest.
Αχ αστέρι μου, τζιβαέρι μου / Ah my star, my treasure
Αχ αστέρι μου, τζιβαέρι μου / Ah my star, my treasure.
Αστέρι μου / My star.
===============
Clarification Notes:
1. Γλυκιά μου μάνα μη μου κλαις / My sweet mother don't cry.
If it was don't cry for me it would be μη με κλαις.
2. Τα χείλη μου να σβήσω / to quench my lips (from thirst)
Το εxtinguish doesn’t make sense.
3. "στερνά" is shortened "υστερνά" meaning finally, at last.
In the context of the song, best translation of the line would be: at last (finally) to rest.
Not to be confused with στέρνα, cistern: tank for collecting (usually) rainwater.
4. Incorrect at lean to kiss you and lean to hold you
To mean lean, Γείρε would be the word used.
The lyrics say “Γύρε” which means turn (return) from the verb γυρίζω (επιστρέφω).
Think Gyros (Γύρος) which turns around on the vertical spit.
“Γύρε” and "Γείρε" sound exactly the same, hence the confusion with many posted translations.
Thank u ❤

Amazing song!!
