The beloved Swedish rock n’ rollers GRAVEYARD return to Athens for their biggest headline show in our country, on Saturday, April 12, 2025 at Floyd Live Music Venue.
Read our interview with them below and prepare yourself for an explosive show filled with the liberating energy of heavy hard rock, the passion of the blues and the psychedelia of Graveyard’s music!
RockOverdose: It’s been two years since “6” came out. Looking back, do you think it’s as good as you thought it was when it was first released? Would you change anything on it?
GRAVEYARD: An album is a snapshot of a moment in time—who we were, what we felt, and what we had to say right then. “6” captured that moment perfectly. Could we change things? Sure. But that’s like asking if you’d change an old conversation with a friend. Maybe you’d say something differently now, but that doesn’t mean it wasn’t honest then. So no, we wouldn’t change it. The best way forward is to write new songs instead of overthinking the old ones.
RockOverdose: Are there any plans for a new record?
GRAVEYARD: Yeah, we’re deep in the writing process. It’s always an interesting time—some songs come fast, others take their time to reveal themselves. We don’t rush it, because if the songs don’t feel alive, there’s no point. The goal is always to write something that excites us, something that makes us want to get up and play. That’s the only way it’s real.
RockOverdose: 2025 is already shaping up to be busy for you. You’ve got dates in Europe, as well as a Latin American tour. Is there anything more to be announced? Do you ever get jaded on tour?
GRAVEYARD: There’s always more coming. Fortunately.
As for getting jaded… touring is a strange mix of routine and chaos. You wake up in a different city, but somehow the same backstage couch is always waiting for you. It can be exhausting, but the moment you step on stage, everything resets. There’s something about playing music live that makes you forget the long drives and weird hotel rooms. It reminds you why you started in the first place.
RockOverdose: On April 12th you return to Athens for a concert at Floyd. I can’t even remember when it was that you last played here. And I’ve attended all three of your concerts. Why did it take you so long to come back?
GRAVEYARD: First of all, respect for making it to all three shows! Athens has always been a special place for us. The energy, the people, the way the city breathes—it’s something else. Very different from Gothenburg thats for sure. Why did it take so long? Life has a way of pulling you in different directions, but the important thing is that we’re finally coming back.
RockOverdose: Do you have any special memories from any of those three gigs?
GRAVEYARD: Well Ι remember not ever having time to go see Akropolis. That always on the bucket list but this time I might flying a day early for some sight-seeing.
To be honest I dont remember much from shows that long ago. Only odd images of some random face in the crowd, rain, live folk music at a bar, no door to the toilet in the shared hotel room.. that kind of stuff. But I’m really excited to come back it has always been a pleasure!
RockOverdose: I was lucky enough to see you at the O2 Forum Kentish Town back in November. Although I love Baroness, I think you played a phenomenal concert that night. You had John Hoyles on guitar and Joakim only handled vocals. Is this configuration a permanent thing? Cause it sure worked that night!
GRAVEYARD: Thanks, man, that was a killer night. The lineup for that tour felt really good—it brought a new kind of energy to the songs. Is it permanent? Not really. Sometimes I think it would be cool to be a quartet but but for now were sticking with the old formation.
RockOverdose: But this show coming up is a different situation, since it’s kind of an “evening with” concert, as opposed to co-headlining with Baroness. What should we expect from your upcoming appearance in Athens?
GRAVEYARD: This one’s going to be all about us and the music—no tight schedules, no rushing through songs. We get to stretch out, let the music breathe, and really connect with the crowd. Expect loud guitars, jams, and moments where time doesn’t seem to exist. It’s going to be a trip, and we’re all going on it together. Thats whats on the agenda. Good times.
RockOverdose: Thank you very much for your time! Last words are yours.
GRAVEYARD: Thanks for having us. Athens, we’ve missed you—let’s make this one count.
And if anyone got a Demis Roussos t-shirt in L feel free to trade it at the march table or just throw it on stage.
On behalf of RockOverdose,
