Estudiantina of Melbourne to pay tribute to Greek music icons at Bankstown Sports Club

Estudiantina of Melbourne will perform a tribute concert at Bankstown Sports Club on March 30, celebrating the legacy of Greek musical icons Vasilis Tsitsanis and Sotiria Bellou, The Greek Herald reports.

The event will also mark the launch of “Journey to Rebetika,” the ensemble’s latest album, which explores the rich traditions of Rebetika music.

Estudiantina, known for its acclaimed performances, will present a tribute to Tsitsanis and Bellou, whose contributions to Greek folk and Rebetiko music continue to resonate across generations. The concert will feature interpretations of their most iconic songs, delivered with the ensemble’s signature passion and musicianship.

Accompanied by traditional instruments such as the bouzouki, guitar, accordion, violin, double bass, drums, and piano, Estudiantina will recreate the essence of the Rebetika sound while incorporating modern influences. The performance aims to offer an immersive experience, blending authentic technique with contemporary artistry.
