A violent altercation broke out late last night at the migrant accommodation centre in Malakasa, leading to nine people being hospitalised.
According to police reports, around 60 to 70 individuals became involved in the disturbance, which resulted in chaotic scenes at the facility. Sixteen people were injured during the conflict, with seven of them being rushed to the Red Cross Hospital for treatment, while two others were taken to the Aglaia Kyriakou Children’s Hospital for immediate care.
The injured, aged between 15 and 25 years, are reported to be of Egyptian origin. Local authorities from the Oropos Police Station are currently investigating the cause of the incident, although the reason behind the violent confrontation remains unclear.
