In a bid to facilitate the travel process, Spain’s Council of Ministers authorised the signing of the agreement between Spain and Uzbekistan on mutual visa exemption for holders of diplomatic passports.
The agreement aims to further strengthen and deepen the connection between both countries while making the travel process easier for holders of diplomatic passports, Schengen.News reports.
As explained by the authorities, under the new deal reached between Spain and Uzbekistan, diplomatic passport holders of both countries will be able to stay in each other’s territory for more than 30 days without having to undergo the visa process. The case is not the same for ordinary passport holders.
Spanish Nationals Are Eligible for Visa-Free Travel to Uzbekistan for Stays up to 30 Days
At present, ordinary passport holders of Spain planning to travel to Uzbekistan for more than 30 days are required to apply for a visa first.
However, for stays that do not exceed 30 days, for tourism purposes, Spanish nationals are exempted from visa requirements when planning to travel to Uzbekistan.
On the other hand, ordinary passport holders of Uzbekistan who want to travel to Spain need to obtain a visa for all types of purposes, regardless of their stay period.
European Countries in Which Uzbeks Can Travel Visa-Free
Uzbekistan’s passport does not give its holders access to a large number of countries when planning to travel without visas. In the Passport Index of VisaGuide.World, which ranks passports of a total of 199 countries based on the strength of their passport, Uzbekistan is ranked in the 125th position.
With a passport score of 27.62, holders of Uzbekistan’s passport can travel visa-free to just 33 countries while visas are required when travelling to a total of 133 countries, including EU member states.
While Uzbeks need to obtain a Schengen visa to enter the bloc, they can travel visa-free to the following countries located in the European continent:
- Andorra
- Belarus
- Moldova
- Ukraine
In contrast, Spain’s passport is ranked in the second position with a passport score of 90.87. It means that Spanish nationals can travel visa-free to a total of 162 countries while visa requirements are applied for just 14 countries.
