PORT CHARLOTTE — Opa! It’s almost time for some moussaka and gyros, sweet pastries, traditional music and dancing, and maybe even some grape-stomping.
The Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church is prepping for its 31th annual Greek Fest, set for Feb. 14-26 on the church hall and grounds, 24411 Rampart Blvd., Port Charlotte.
The festival offers array of traditional Greek dishes, from savory moussaka and gyros to homemade pastries and refreshing loukoumades.
There will be traditional Greek music performed, along with dancers in traditional costumes all weekend.
A marketplaces is planned where handcrafted goods, Greek souvenirs and all manner of treats wil be available.
Visitors can take a tour of the Orthodox Church and learn about Greek culture. There will be grape-stomping demonstrations with opportunities for hands-on, or feet-on, participation.
Festival hours are Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday.
Admission is a $5 donation that’s good for the entire weekend. Kids 15 and under are free.
