The life and legacy of renowned Greek composer Mikis Theodorakis will be brought to the big screen, production company Tanweer has announced. The company has acquired the rights to produce a biographical film about the influential musician, known for his iconic compositions and political activism.
The film will be directed by Eva Nathena, known for “The Murderess,” based on the classic novel by Alexandros Papadiamantis. Tanweer has previously produced successful Greek music biopics, including “Eftyhia,” about lyricist Eftyhia Papagiannopoulou, and “Yparcho,” which chronicled singer Stelios Kazantzidis’ rise to fame.
Theodorakis, who passed away in 2021, remains a towering figure in Greek culture, and is known as one of the country’s greatest composers and songwriters, and for his resistance against the military junta.
