Where did our modern medicine come from? To answer that question, we have to go back in time to antiquity, and say hello to some figures you may have heard of like Hippocrates and Galen. Join me in a series where I do a brief survey of the history of western medicine. Everything mentioned in this video could have an entire series all on its own, so I encourage you to use this as a basis for your own further research.

Wow, your channel is amazing and deeply informative upon so many topics I'm passionate about as well!! In my astrological herbalism course, the instructor is getting deep into medical astrology, incorporating western clinical herbalism with Ayurveda, Chinese herbalism, various global indigenous practices and other early forms of holistic healing. I'm still not really sold on astrology, but it's very interesting, as many of the tissue states you mentioned are the basis of what he's teaching us, so it was really nice to hear them mentioned in this wonderfully put together presentation and context. The wealth of knowledge you posses is evident in your videos, which are so very refreshing, compared to the majority of the trendy, click-bate vids out there. I can tell you are very passionate about this time in history and have attained much wisdom and understanding of what it was actually like for people living in these times. I find the ancient Greek rational method to be very interesting. You can see kinda where they were coming from. No, they weren't totally right, but there was thought and a certain flawed logic. Maybe a better way to put it is that you can see how medical professionals now and physicians then go through the same processes of diagnosis, of finding cures even if the associations and applied cures are often very, very different. But at the same time, they weren't completely wrong. How often do modern, everyday people hear about diet and exercise as part of a healthy routine. It's interesting to see where the logic connects and how it differs.
