Fashion designer Ackeilia Caine makes waves with Golden Isles Collection | Lifestyle

Greece – the essence of timeless beauty, rich history, and a deep connection to the sea – was the true inspiration behind Trendzy By Ackeilia’s 2025 spring resort collection, Golden Isles. Recently, specially invited guests gathered at New Haven Avenue in Kingston to witness this style spectacle making waves on the runway.

“The name Golden Isles reflects both the sunlit coastlines of Greece and the golden essence of luxury and elegance I wanted to bring to this collection. The intricate details, earthy tones, and flowing silhouettes pay homage to ancient Greek artistry while staying true to my Caribbean roots,” the designer, Ackeilia Caine, told Sunday Lifestyle.

Sharing the similarities of stunning beaches, vibrant cultures and luxurious resorts with the land of wood and water, it was only fitting to fuse the collection as an island meets Greek aesthetic, “Both countries attract travellers seeking sun, sea, and an unforgettable escape, making them ideal muses for a resort swim collection. Since swimwear thrives in destinations like these, blending Greek influences with Jamaican flair aligns seamlessly with the spirit of vacation, elegance, and adventure,” she said.

She goes on further to highlight that this collection naturally embodies the essence of both worlds, as it relates timeless luxury, effortless beauty, and a connection to the most breathtaking tourist destinations.

To start off the fashion show, Caine presented pieces from her past collections, which brought a radiant reggae feel and cultural vibrancy to the catwalk. Her reason for strolling down memory lane was two-fold: to celebrate the designs that have resonated with style lovers and to honour her growth and evolution. “They are also my best sellers year round and it was also a way to share with my audience how Trendzy by Ackeilia has maintained a strong cultural identity while continuously innovating,” she added.

Thereafter, monokinis, two-pieces and cover-ups in earth tones of cool brown rocked the runway. Although the Trendzy movement was motivated by the 2025 Pantone colour of the year, mocha mousse, the designer explained that her previous collection, Soleil d’Or, featured brown and gold looks.

Released in November, the line sold out within a month. So, when she was planning her next collection, she continued on the earth tones trajectory. Finding fabrics that reflected this year’s Pantone colour was all the sign she needed.

“Mocha Mousse embodies warmth, sophistication, and versatility, making it a perfect foundation for the collection. I wanted shades that complement all skin tones while exuding a natural, earthy richness. Designing with this hue in mind was exciting because it allowed me to play with textures and layering, especially with mesh, spandex, and braided details, creating depth and visual intrigue,” she shared.

It was also during her Soleil d’Or collection that Caine first introduced the braiding technique. The personal handmade details were adored by fans, so she kept this artisanal touch going in Golden Isles, discovering later on that braiding is widely used in Greek fashion. “When I first started my brand, I made macramé bracelets with names and charms for my schoolmates. So, seeing that early craftsmanship evolve into my clothing designs is a full-circle moment for me,” she reflected.

Every collection comes with its fair share of challenges, and Golden Isles was no different. Sourcing fabric was one hurdle to jump over. And introducing rare crocodile print became another matter to address. “It was advertised as brown but, when it arrived, it was black. Luckily, I found a black and gold mesh that complemented it even better than the gold fabric I had originally planned for the collection,” she pointed out.

Once those pieces made from that fabric came to life, there was no stopping the majestic moments that took over. And, with one becoming a showstopper of the night, the creative process was certainly worth it.

Caine received an incredibly positive response to her show, as many praised the setting, ambiance, and overall experience of Golden Isles. “I want this collection to redefine resortwear by offering elegant, statement-making pieces that exude both sophistication and comfort. My goal is to inspire confidence in those who wear them while showcasing Caribbean luxury on a global scale. I also hope to continue pushing creative boundaries in swimwear design.

The collection is currently available for purchase at Caine’s showroom at 20 New Haven Avenue, Kingston 6 or through her website at www.trendzyja.com.
