Greece’s Ethnikós Telikós 2025 has just concluded and we now know who will represent the country at the Eurovision Song Contest 2025.
The two hosts, Elena Paparizou and Sakis Rouvas, opened the show accompanied by the ERT Contemporary Music Orchestra and members of the ERT Choir and performed three iconic songs together: ABBA’s “Waterloo“, Johnny Logan’s “Hold me now” and the first Eurovision song for Greece, Marinella’s “Krassi, thalassa ke t’ agori mou“.
Last year’s Greek contestant, Marina Satti also performed her song “Zari“, and this year’s Cypriot artist Theo Evan performed “Fuego“.
We saw 12 acts perform their songs tonight, all with the hope of going to Basel. After the performances, the voting started for the Greek public as well as both a Greek and an international jury.
After the votes were counted, Klavdia was declared winner of Ethnikós Telikós 2025 and will represent Greece at the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 with the song “Asteromáta“.
“Asteromáta” was written by Arcade and Klavdia Papadopoulou.
Ethnikós Telikós 2025
For the first time in several years, Greece held a national selection competition to select their Eurovision representative in Basel. The selection is called Ethnikós Telikós 2025 (“National Final 2025”) and took place on Thursday 30 January 2025 in Christmas Theatre, Galatsi, Athens and was hosted by Helena Paparizou (Greece 2001, 2005) and Sakis Rouvas (Greece 2004, 2009).
12 songs competed and the decision was in the hands of public voting (50%), a Greek jury (25%) and an international jury (25%).
Greece in Eurovision
Greece started its Eurovision adventure back in 1974, and has participated in the contest 44 times.
They won the Eurovision Song Contest in 2005 with the song “My Number One,” performed by Helena Paparizou. Since that victory, they have been very successful in Eurovision.
Greece has qualified for the Grand Final 17 out of 20 times, only missing the Grand Final in 2016, 2018 and 2023. Since 2004, they have finished in the top ten 11 out of 19 times. They have never finished last in the contest.
