Dendias visits Fort Sill Fires Centre of Excellence in Oklahoma

National Defence Minister Nikos Dendias on Wednesday visited the Fort Sill Fires Center for Excellence in Oklahoma, where the Joint Counter-small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (C-sUAS) University (JCU) is based, during his visit to the United States.

According to a defence ministry announcement, Dendias was given a detailed briefing by Fort Sill’s commander, Major General Winston P. Brooks, on academic training in handling Unmanned Aerial Systems and on the development of cutting-edge innovations and tactics against new threats.

The minister was also briefed on the use of modern production methods using AI and the production of drone spare parts and components using 3-D printers. He was then shown around the design and assembly areas for the new systems. During the visit, he was also briefed by the Fort Sill personnel on their mission and watched a display of fending off a drone attack in real operational conditions.

Dendias additionally met Hellenic Army officers who are training at Fort Sill in new technologies for guiding artillery fire.

“I was briefed on all the latest developments in battle against drones and I think that, after my visit, a new period of close cooperation will begin between the C-sUAS University and the Greek armed forces,” Dendias said afterward.
