The Demos Center (17 Ipitou) of The American College of Greece is currently celebrating democracy through the arts. Music and democracy have a shared emphasis on expression, inclusion, and collaborative participation, and existing hierarchies in both music and democracies are characterized by oppositional discourse. Two cellists, Dr Nora Karakousoglou and Professor Leslie Jones of Deree, The American College of Greece, will deliver a presentation on music and hierarchies and music making as a democratic process on January 24, starting at 7 p.m. Open to the public and admission is free.
