Netflix fans hail history-making thriller ‘as close to perfection as TV can get’ and claim tense scenes are ‘tattooed on their minds’

Netflix fans have hailed a history-making thriller ‘as close to perfection as TV can get’ and said that tense scenes are ‘tattooed on their minds’.

Maestro In Blue originally aired on Greek television in 2022 but is only just getting recognition with British audiences as they recently discovered the crime drama on Netflix.

The series, set on the sunny Greek island of Paxos, follows troubled musician Orestis (Christoforos Papakaliatis) who directs the revival of a local music festival and falls in love with music student Klelia (Klelia Andriolatou).

Their blossoming romance takes a dramatic turn when the pair get caught up in a grisly murder on the idyllic island.

Maestro In Blue made history when it became the first Greek scripted series to be picked up by Netflix and has now returned to the streaming giant for a third season.

Viewers have been gushing about the ‘gripping’ plot on social media since finding the hidden gem.

On X, one posted screenshots from the show and said: ‘These two scenes? Tattooed on my mind. I’ve been crying for a whole episode now.’

‘#MaestroinBlue is as close to perfection as a TV show can get. Gripping. Stunning. Sentimental. The story and its characters are going to stay with me forever. A beautiful ode to the complexity that is human existence,’ another wrote.

A third also posted screenshots of a touching moment in the show and said: ‘If somebody said this to me, I would probably just cry. How beautiful.’

Along with a picture of Greek singer Haris Alexiou who stars in the series and wrote: ‘The queen is back everyone go watch #MaestroInBlue it’s the last season.’

However, the third season may not be the show’s final instalment as creator and director Christoforos Papakaliatis has not ruled out a fourth season.

He recently told ABC News: ‘People would very much want a season four and I would like to write it, but I need time to think about it.’

Season three premiered in Greece on December 2 and the entire season has been available on Netflix in Greece and Cyprus since December 3.

The season came to a close at the end of December for Greek and Cypriot fans but began streaming worldwide on December 28.

It has been featured in the streaming giant’s top 10 list of the most watched foreign shows globally.

Maestro In Blue is available to stream on Netflix.
