Cracker Barrel fails with 61; It’s Greek To Us earns 100

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – On Southlake Plaza Drive in Morrow, a family restaurant serving homestyle food did not measure up on its last routine health inspection.

Cracker Barrel failed with 61 points and a “U” for unsatisfactory.

The report states a black mold-like substance was found on the ice machine. Plus, several dishes were stored as clean with old food debris on them and steak, turkey, chicken, sausage, catfish and more were at unsafe temperatures.

The manager at the restaurant did not want to explain what happened. So, Atlanta News First contacted the corporate office and management said they corrected the violations in short order and are providing additional training for team members.

An update in Cobb County this week: Creole Orleans on South Cobb Drive corrected some of its violations this week, earning 86 points and a “B” on a reinspection.

At It’s Greek to Us on Church Street in Marietta, the restaurant earned a 100 on their last health inspection.

“Congratulations, they are the winner of this week’s Golden Spatula Award,” Atlanta News First Reporter Adam Murphy said.

The restaurant has been in business for 11 years and is family owned and operated.

Papa started the restaurant a few years ago and now has passed it along to his son and daughter-in-law. They serve traditional Greek dishes, and everything is made to order. They take pride in using the freshest ingredients and have an incredible dessert case with homemade cheesecake. They’ve been voted Best of Cobb County six years running.

On the menu, you can order octopus, stuffed cabbage, lamb chops, gyro, beef kabob, shrimp kabob, shrimp Santorini platter, moussaka, pastitsio and spanakopita.

“Boy that’s good,” Murphy said.
