There is no such thing as Greek yoğurt people Yoğurt is a 1000 thousand years old tradition of Turks
I drink the whey. It's full of goodness.
Heating the milk for hours seems totally unnecessary since all our milk is already pasteurized. You would really only need to heat it to temperature.
Why do you have ants in your kitchen?
You can also use the whey as your starter instead of giving up some of that yummy yogurt. I freeze mine in an ice cube tray and thaw for use.
Too many steps to fool with.
Hello! I am so happy that you are speaking little bit slower than before: you are great at what you do, please do not stop. How old is now your little girl? All the best.
Wish I had access to milk like this…
You don't actually save money by making your own Greek Yogurt. That container of grassfed milk probably costs more than buying a container of yogurt. But homemade is always better.
A question about the strainer, is it made out of pastic?
I’ve just made my first batch and followed your instructions to the letter apart from I had to leave it longer than 18 hours as I was waiting for my muslin cloth to arrive so it was about 24 hours. It’s absolutely delicious and the perfect consistency. I’ll definitely be making again and will buy a yogurt strainer as the cloth I waited for was, as you said, messy.
Can I use fat free milk?
I just made my 1st batch. Although it didn’t thicken up as much as I thought it would, but it did drain a lot of the whey. I don't know if it had something to do with the stainer. The bottom layer was thick though. I forgot to take out the yogurt to warm up to room temperature, but I did warm it a bit in the microwave. It strained for about 8 hours. It was good still.
So the yogurt will always turn creamy instead of semi-solid like the ones from store.
I wonder how do they do that? Cuz I do like semi-solid yogurt
This is a detailed explanation, thank you
When you unplug a cord, grab it from the plug, not the cord.
You dont turn it back on to like the warm setting? It keeps its set temp for the whole 18 hours?!
Do I use 1/2 cup of yogurt regardless of how much milk I use ?
You can use the whey to replace water when making bread
Just temper the yogurt with some of the warm milk before adding to the slowcooker ❤
No such thing as Greek yogurt stop calling it that.
I've been making yogurt for years, but not Greek so watched this. Just a couple of points.
1. You don't need to use Greek yogurt as a starter any active yogurt is going to work.
2. If you leave the Crockpot on warm the fermentation will go a lot faster, just 5-6 hrs for mild and 7-8 hours for tangy (and no lactose) yogurt.
3. I also use sterilized milk, very common in Europe, so don't need to heat then cool can just heat to the right temp from the beginning, takes 30 – 45 mins on low setting on the Crockpot depending how cold the milk is to start with.
🐜 challenge accepted!
I just ferment my milk in a jar on the kitchen counter, no heat. It's usually done in 24 hours, more in winter. Is there a difference in strains that makes it necessary for this?
Such a great/ easy way to explain everything 👏🏽 thanks ☺️!
2:45 ants getting in? Wth??
So the crock pot is only turned on for the first two hours? When you add the yogurt to the milk and let it sit 18 hours, the crockpot it not turned on at that time? Thanks!
Made mine today, about to go stir in the store bought Greek yogurt with live cultures. Can’t wait for tomorrow! 🎉. First time.
Hello…perhaps raw milk would be healthier as the added D …is not good for your health….find one without the added D. THANK YOU!
I absolutely love this. Additionally let’s just talk about the price of things right now. If you could also get grass fed organic milk, and a glass jar or grocery store store hallelujah you’re taken away from the chemicals of the paper or the plastic….. we have to start going back to basics and figuring out how to create some things that we pay for it to be created for us. It’s better for our body and it also saves us money.
Hi, Autumn! Great video. I'm looking forward to doing this. A couple of questions: How have you calculated your savings? I imagine the milk isn't cheap! Also, is there a different process with unpasteurised, grass-fed milk? thanks!
Amazing❤
Ants???
A+ tutorial, thank you 🙏
My wife used to ferment her yogurt by setting the container on a heating pad on the kitchen counter with a kitchen towel under the heating pad and a kitchen towel over the top of the container.
Please let me know how much milk you put in the crockpot
Use the whey water in bread dough
I use UHT milk so I can skip the milk preheating, just add a 1/4 starter to 1.5 liter milk in the Instant Pot on yoghurt setting for 8hrs overnight and strain. Much easier
I would try this with raw whole milk.
I can buy 48oz of no fat Greek yogurt at Costco for $5. Pretty sure im saving money over this crock pot method. And it saves me a ton of time which is even more valuable.
Don't know where she lives that Greek yogurt was $8 three years ago. But I'm in expensive Boston and with inflation 32oz of greek yogurt is $3.69-$6.
Much too long and unnecessarily complicated– crock pot is not necessary, nor any kind of bath or oven. Just put yogurt into warm milk and let sit covered for 5 or 6 hours, then put in fridge. When firmly set you can strain.
the greek yogurt I buy from faye is so much thicker than that its hold its shape on a spoon
i feel like that yogurt you made looks like regular yogurt
Lebanese Labneh ,, look it up beside you can flavor it with any herbs you like and don’t forget a good olive oil to be on top of it👍😋💃🏼
Nice… This is really nice….Along with this must include Planet Ayurveda's Detox tea in your routine as it is really good and effective…
