Pontiaki Estia held their Youth Dance Night at the club’s events hall last Saturday.
The hall filled early on with members from almost every youth group in the community, including Lemnian, Pallakonian, Greek Orthodox Youth from the Archdiocesan Region, Saint Basil’s, NUGAS, LUGS (La Trobe University Greek Students), Pancretan Association, and Cretan Brotherhood.
It was a atmosphere full of cultural heritage, reminiscent of the early days of the Greek community’s presence in Melbourne, as the young participants honoured their homeland and roots, dancing to a mix of Greek music genres.
One notable thing that happened at the event was a large Greek flag spontaneously unfurling amid the festivities.
It was a night full of Greek spirit and emotion, embodying the unity and resilience that Greeks cherish, where, as the saying goes, they celebrated wholeheartedly when together.
DJ Thomas Nico kept the energy high with his Greek music selections, while the Black Sea performers of Pontiaki Estia brought an extra spark.
Musicians included Konstantinos Psychogios and Petros Tsobanopoulos on lyra, Michalis Vasiliou on the aulos, Alexandros Pilalidis on the daouli drum, and singers Nikos Psychogios, Dimitris Tsobanopoulos, and Yiannis Karadis, each adding their soul to the evening.
