Holidaymakers heading to Iceland are being warned they could be fined while abroad. The Foreign Office is advising UK tourists to stick to the rules when in Iceland.
Drink-drive laws also apply to hop on scooters, it said. This means it is illegal to ride a scooter after drinking alcohol in Iceland.
You could be fine and even charged with an offence if you are caught breaking the rules. In an update on October 11, the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) issued new information about hop on scooters.

The FCDO said: “Riding a scooter after consuming alcohol is prohibited by law in Iceland. The same law as driving a car under the influence applies and will resort in a fine and or charges.”
According to travel site Visit Reykjavik, the minimum punishment for a first drink-driving offence is a fine of at least 100,000 ISK (£559). Other rules include driving on the right side of the road and overtaking on the left.
Car headlights must be switched on at all times of the day and night when driving in Iceland. You also cannot use your mobiles while driving.
