Annual Greek Festival returns to Myrtle Beach for 33rd year

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) — News13 is a proud sponsor of the annual Greek Festival, which returned to Myrtle Beach for its 33rd year of fun.

At St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church off Highway 17, people can experience a little culture and a little taste of Greece along the coast. The event kicked off Thursday with Greek activities the whole family can enjoy.

People can also enjoy traditional Greek foods like grape leaves and euros. There are also bounce houses for kids to enjoy, and in response to one of their sister churches in Asheville, North Carolina, being damaged by Hurricane Helene, St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church is giving back.

“This year, we’re dedicating all of our money that comes in from admissions to help them with theirs because they had to take their food they had prepared for their large festival and just gave it away to all the local citizens,” Vice President Dean Morris said.

The event runs 11 a.m. through 9 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and then from 12 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Sunday.
