Cello and piano recital in Paphos

Technopolis 20 Classics hosts an enchanting evening of cello and piano music on Wednesday at Markidio Theatre with the renowned Spanish pianist Ángeles Iglesias and the distinguished Lithuanian cellist Robertas Grod. Starting at 8pm, the musicians will take listeners through a mesmerising journey of the rich musical landscapes of Spain, France and Brazil.

“This upcoming concert is a celebration of cultural and musical traditions, offering a tapestry of evocative works that will transport the audience across continents and centuries,” say organisers.

The evening will begin with Manuel de Falla’s Spanish Dance, followed by Gaspar Cassadó’s lyrical and virtuosic Requiebros. The Spanish theme will continue with de Falla’s Four Popular Spanish Songs, each reflecting a different aspect of Spain’s rich musical heritage.

Claude Debussy’s Sonata in D minor will close the first half, providing a French Impressionistic contrast to the Spanish pieces. The second half will feature two evocative works by Heitor Villa-Lobos, showcasing the beauty of Brazilian music. Finally, the concert will conclude with César Franck’s Sonata in A Major, a masterpiece that highlights the emotional depth of the cello and piano repertoire.

Later this week, Technopolis 20 will host more musical evenings at its venue, specifically on Friday and Monday, highlighting Greek music and jazz tunes.
