4 juveniles arrested after stolen car crashes in Greece

Greece, N.Y. — Police arrested four juveniles after a stolen vehicle crashed Thursday at the entrance to Basil Marella Park.

Officers responded just before 5 p.m. to a report of a car crash at Fetzner Road and Howard Crampton Drive.

Upon arrival, officers were advised that the occupants of one of the involved vehicles had fled the scene on foot. Within minutes, officers located and detained four juveniles a short distance from the crash. Witnesses positively identified all four as occupants of the fleeing vehicle.

Investigators determined a 13-year-old boy had been driving the car — which had been stolen in Rochester shortly before the crash — and was speeding along Fetzner Road with three passengers when the car struck another vehicle, injuring a 48-year-old adult and a 7-year-old child.

Police said the stolen vehicle struck a park sign, causing “significant” damage, before coming to rest in a ditch.

All four juveniles — aged 12, 13, 13 and 14 — are charged with criminal possession of stolen property, criminal mischief, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and two counts of leaving the scene of a personal injury accident.

Police said the 12-year-old was released to a parent and is due in Monroe County Family Court at a later date. The other three suspects were taken to the Monroe County Children’s Detention Center.
