25th International ‘Salesian Summer of Music’ Festival 2025 in Przemyśl

Przemyśl, Poland – July-August 2025 – The 25th International ‘Salesian Summer of Music’ Festival took place in Przemyśl from 7 July to 1 August. This year’s edition, entitled ‘Between East and West’, began at the Salesian Church-Sanctuary of St Joseph, belonging to the Salesian Province of Krakow (PLS), and included 14 concerts held in various locations: Salesian Church, Carmelite Church, Franciscan Church, Greek-Catholic Cathedral and the Casimir Castle Auditorium. The programme of musical presentations was rich and varied, encompassing a wide repertoire of music that satisfied both classical and contemporary music lovers. The organisers of the Festival were: the Przemyśl Centre for Culture and Science ZAMEK (PCKiN); St Joseph’s Parish; Renata Nowakowska, Director of PCKiN ZAMEK; Fr Wiesław Wilkosz, SDB, parish priest; Daniel Prajzner, artistic director; Jan Jarosz, director of the Przemyśl National Earth Museum; and Tomasz Ślusarczyk, Festival director. At the end of the Festival, the A’cappella Leopolis vocal band from Ukraine, conducted by Ludmila Kapustin, performed in the Greek Catholic Cathedral. This Festival, first opened in 2000, builds on the tradition of the Salesian Organ School operating at the Salesian Parish in Przemyśl. This centre for the formation and dissemination of musical culture, founded in 1916, was until 1963 the only formation centre in the field of sacred music in Poland and this part of Europe. In parallel with the school’s activities, numerous cultural activities were carried out, with the organisation of organ, chamber and oratorio concert cycles.
