Don’t get me wrong, being at the opening ceremony of the Olympics is a tremendous privilege and one I’m extremely grateful for.
With that being said, having been to the opening ceremonies of Beijing 2008 and London 2012, I can tell you that the parade of athletes has a way of stretching on forever. Mercifully, the Winter Games are much smaller than the Summer Games.
Just under 3,000 athletes are here for these Games. Compare that to the approximately 10,500 athletes that competed at Paris 2024.
