A second West Bridgford bar, a favourite with Forest fans, has ditched sport on TV in favour of live music and events.
Hubble Bubble Bar was closed for four months for a £45,000 refurbishment. As well as redecoration, the bar has an improved sound system and a stage has been added.
But the jukebox has gone – and although the TVs are showing sports news when Forest are at home, live football and other sporting events are not being screened.
Aram Ashtari, owner of the 200 capacity-bar in Pavilion Road, said: “We are trying to get more events like a Greek night, karaoke and live music.
“We are also hoping to open more as a function room.
“We are putting a lot of focus on live music. Feedback has been really positive – we’ve had great comments.”
Hubble Bubble is the second bar in the vicinity of the Forest ground to axe live sport on the telly. Southbank Bar has now closed and will be replaced by Waterside Bar + Kitchen, opening next month.
Aram added: “We are looking forward to the opening of their new venture and we understand their focus is less on sport too so we are going in the same direction.”
Other plans for the summer include the addition of a shisha lounge – when it opened 19 years ago Hubble Bubble was named after a 250-year-old Iranian shisha pipe owned by Aram.
Hubble Bubble is open Friday and Saturday from 6pm to midnight.
