The biggest international sneaker festival, Sneakerness, takes place in Athens at the old OSY Depot in Gazi between October 11 and 13.
The Nike Air that Michael Jordan advertised to the entire planet made sneakers an industry with a turnover of more than 85 billion euros worldwide.
The cinema, in turn, played its role, either with Forrest Gump’s Nike Cortez or Adidas Samba Super in Trainspotting or the yellow and black striped Onitsuka Tiger Mexico 66 in Kill Bill.
The Sneakerness festival is the leading global platform for streetwear and sneaker culture, a meeting place for its passionate fans. It is a unique celebration of fashion, art, and music, and has been held for over ten years in major European cities, such as Zurich, Rotterdam, Amsterdam, and Milan.
A special experience
In an area of over 4,000 m, you can see the top international sneaker brands and selected Greek streetwear labels. Street culture enthusiasts will have an unforgettable experience, such as having the opportunity admire and buy products in an unprecedented 360° experience with new releases, limited edition models and rare pieces.
Visitors will be able to meet international collectors and resellers and take photos with sneaker icons, such as the 78-year-old German fashion guru Gramps, who has gone viral for his unique style choices.
In addition, sneaker lovers can customise their favourite Lacoste hats and sneakers at the customisation workshop of street artist Yiakou.
Adidas’ participation, in collaboration with Sneaker 10, will also be of great interest. They will also present the multi-talented Ellize on the festival stage.
Converse will also have a strong presence, where the new series of Canadian NBA superstar Shai Gilgeous-Alexander will be presented.
In the same context, visitors will be able to watch live Custom Bespoke Shoe Designing from Sneakerschool of the Netherlands, as well as Sneaker Battles & Drops from OG Market, Sneakerdom and Fotis Kouroupis.
Music & Happenings
The stage and Creative Lounge of The Athlete’s Foot, the festival’s partner, will host workshops and dance challenges from the Follow The Waack and GET AP Studio teams, setting the pace for all three days.
There will also be the OG Market, which participates in games and contests with gift pairs of sneakers, and That Gorilla Brand, which presents the internationally recognised sneaker expert KishKash from London, who will take over the decks of Sneakerness with a special DJ set.
Among the very important experiences of the festival is the Marketplace, where in a specially designed space, visitors can discover and buy clothes and accessories from 30 established and emerging Greek streetwear brands that leave their mark on fashion and create their own trends.
The public will also have the opportunity to participate in giveaways, contests, and fun activations, such as the Sprite Treasure Hunt to win many gift vouchers and the Pacman Tournament from My Arcade.
Crep Protect will also be present with its iconic throne and free sneaker cleaning services, as well as the Crop Or Flop vote and the Sneaker Olympics with lots of prizes for the public.
Sneaker fanatics will be able to claim collectible items and products through contests in the Sneakerness Marketplace and the auction of 10 exclusive products of the Sneakerness Museum, which will take place on Sunday, 10/13.
In addition, the popular sneaker store Drip Athens will be hosted in the Sneakerness Athens space, which also has a barber shop.
There will also be a specially designed skate spot with Skate Challenges from the Ministry of Concrete team. From October 11 to 13, Athens wears its sneakers, which are central to global street culture.
