Harrogate to get another Greek restaurant

  • The owners of Mykonos Bar & Grill want to expand their Greek offering in Harrogate.
  • It wants to create Santorini Express, an authentic Greek street food Bistro and takeaway, on Parliament Street.
  • The plans have been approved.

An empty building in Harrogate is set to become a Greek restaurant and takeaway.

Harrogate Borough Council has approved a change of use and listed building consent for Arian Dervishi to take over 52 Parliament Street for the businesses.

The plans were approved by council planners under delegated powers after no objections were received.

The application to the council stated:

“The applicants use for the premises is to expand on an established food business in Harrogate (Mykonos Bar & Grill) and to create Santorini Express, an authentic Greek street food Bistro and takeaway that will host customers in a traditional Mediterranean style environment and independently serve take out customers also.

“The applicant has been successfully managing the family operated food business for over 10 years. The need for expanding the business has come about due to the increased demand in healthy convenience food and the rise of new technology apps such as Deliveroo, Just Eat & Uber Eats.

“The proposal would operate from morning until evening with typical operating hours from 10.30am  to 11pm throughout the week and extended later hours for Friday, Saturday and Sunday to cater for the weekend period where most income is generated.”

The premises have been empty for two years.
