The owner of a leading Melbourne Greek food institution has snapped up two of George Calombaris’ businesses following the collapse of his food empire.
The Stalactites Group confirmed on Friday it had bought the Jimmy Grants souvlaki stores at Emporium Melbourne and Fitzroy and would convert them to quick service Hella Good restaurants from mid-year.
The group, which owns Stalactites Restaurant and Hella Good, is working with Mr Calombari’s Made Establishment Group to hire some of the existing staff.
“Our family has been serving Greek cuisine to Melburnians for over 40 years and we are lucky we can continue to do so,” The Stalactites Group’s Nicole Papasavas said in a statement.
Calombaris’ restaurant empire collapsed last month and went into administration.
