Opa! Enjoy souvlaki, Greek wine, traditional dances, music and more as Queensland’s longest-running Greek festival celebrates 47 years.
One of Brisbane’s biggest food and culture festivals – and certainly its biggest Greek celebration – is back.
Paniyiri is also Queensland’s longest-running Greek festival, bringing together Brisbane’s Greek community to celebrate their culture and heritage for 47 years. There’s a vibrant program each year, with plenty to eat, do and see. This year’s theme is “picnic at Paniyiri”, inviting attendees to bring a picnic rug (or buy one at the festival) and settle into a grassy spot for two days of activities and Greek eats.
On the food side, expect an array of stalls serving up cuisine from different regions of Greece. There’ll be souvlaki, gyros, octopus, baklava, honey puffs and more, plus Greek wine to wash it all down.
There’ll also be traditional folk dancing, live music, cooking demonstrations, competitions, a tour of the Greek Orthodox Church and other cultural activities for all ages. Plus, festival-goers can buy raffle tickets for a chance to win two return tickets to Greece.
Tickets cost $16.85 for one day or $27.05 for both days. Children under 13 enter free.
