Orlando Greek Fest has all the sights, sounds and Mediterranean eats you can handle

Orlando Greek Fest is a local tradition that this writer had slept on until recently and, buddy, were we ever missing out. Well worth the drive to Maitland, this festival is a veritable treasure trove of sensory delights with dancing, live music, vendors, people-watching and (my god) the food and drink on offer is tough to beat. Taking over the grounds near the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church for the weekend, this festival has provided a primer to Greek culture and cuisine for decades now.

Our mouths water just thinking about the dolmades, but you can also stuff your face with gyros, saganaki, galaktoboureko, souvlaki, spanakopita, baklava and jarringly strong coffee to spur you on toward your next snack. Say it together now: Opa!

Various times Friday-Sunday, Nov. 6-8, Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 1217 Trinity Woods Lane, Maitland, orlandogreekfest.com, free.
