Marija Cicak of Croatia became the first woman to umpire the men’s final at Wimbledon yesterday when she oversaw the match between Novak Djokovic and Matteo Berrettini.
Cicak, 43, is one of 39 women umpires in the sport. There are 185 umpires in total, including eight Britons. A Greek umpire became the first woman to judge a men’s grand slam, officiating at the US Open in 2015.
Cicak umpired the men’s semi-final at Wimbledon in 2018.
