Fans of beloved Greek doughnuts loukoumades can expect a sugar rush when a Melbourne-based franchise launches its first WA outlet in Subiaco today.
Located on Rokeby Road, Lukumades will open its doors from 10am to 10pm from Sunday to Monday and until 11pm on Fridays and Saturdays.
The vegan balls of dough — traditionally served with honey, cinnamon and nuts — will be given a modern twist with a wide variety of flavours including Nutella, matcha, Oreo, peanut butter and white chocolate.
Lukumades founder Exarhos Sourligas started the venture in a Melbourne food truck in 2016.
There are now five stores around Australia.
Subi franchisee Aiden Mizen expects the warm dessert to be a hit with West Aussies because they will be freshly made to order. And good value, too — a portion of 8-10 balls costs $10.
The venue will also serve gelato and coffee.
