Sept. 4

Celebrating mining heritage

Park City celebrates Labor Day, and its mining heritage, with Miners Day on Monday. Events include the “Running of the Balls” (a charity event organized by Park City Rotary Club) at 10:30 a.m. and a parade at 11 a.m. — both on Main Street — and mucking and drilling demonstrations at City Park, 1400 Sullivan Road, at 12:30 p.m. For more information, go to parkcityminersday.org.

‘Our State Fair is a great state fair’

Ride the rides, play the carnival games, watch the livestock, eat more fried foods than is humanly healthy — all at the Utah State Fair, starting Thursday at the Utah State Fairpark, 1000 W. Music, conversation and wellness

Billed as “a multi-day music and wellness event,” the second annual Park City Song Summit, running Thursday through Saturday at Canyons Village in Park City, features dozens of musicians — this year, the roster includes Bobby Weir of the Grateful Dead, folk-rocker Lukas Nelson and Public Enemy’s Chuck D — in performance and conversation. Salt Lake City’s Greek heritage

The 47th annual Salt Lake City Greek Festival — a celebration of Utah’s Greek heritage, in music, food and other cultural icons — happens Friday through next Sunday at Holy Trinity Cathedral, 279 S. 300 West, Salt Lake City. For tickets and information, go to saltlakecitygreekfestival.com.

A day for vegans and friends

A celebration of all things vegetarian and vegan, SLC VegFest — happening Saturday, noon-8 p.m., at Library Square, 210 E. 400 South, Salt Lake City — features vegan food, a beer garden, a kids’ area and live music. Admission is free. Go to slcveg.com for information.
