The British newspaper Express has highlighted Lipsi as one of the best exotic islands worldwide, bringing attention to Greece’s lesser-known beauty.
Express, addressing millions of travel enthusiasts, describes Lipsi as “a small, picturesque island in the Aegean Sea” and projects it as the second most exotic and authentic destination by 2025. Unlike the bustling tourist hotspots of Mykonos and Santorini, Lipsi offers a more serene and genuine Greek experience.
The island’s focal point is its charming village, characterized by whitewashed houses, narrow cobblestone streets, and a well-organized port featuring tavernas, cafes, and shops. Lipsi’s beaches are especially alluring, celebrated for their crystal-clear waters and tranquil atmosphere. Besides its natural splendor, Lipsi is also rich in cultural heritage. A notable religious site is the 7th-century church of Panagia tou Charou.
Mayor Fotis Maggos remarked on the increasing trend among modern travelers seeking authentic, lesser-known destinations throughout the year. He also noted a 6.5% rise in ferry arrivals in September, marking the island’s growing popularity.
