Idol’s Kobe White Learns Greek To Serenade His Girlfriend – Greek City Times

Australian Idol Hopeful Kobe White Brings Girlfriend to Tears with Viral Greek Serenade

Australian Idol hopeful Kobe White has captured the hearts of millions with a touching TikTok video where he serenades his girlfriend with a surprise performance of Athina Mou, the beloved Greek anthem by Konstantinos Argiros.

The video, which has already amassed over 2.5 million views, shows Kobe singing her favourite song in Greek—a language he secretly learned just to surprise her. His video was accompanied by the caption, “Singing for my GF’s favourite song in Greek and not telling her I learnt the language. She was SHOCKED. I tried,” alongside a teary-eyed emoji.

“Singing for my GF’s favourite song in Greek and not telling her I learnt the language. She was SHOCKED. 😭 I tried.”

The video has not only resonated with his audience but also caught the attention of Konstantinos Argiros himself, who released Athina Mou in 2020 with the renowned Greek singer sharing Kobe’s video on his own social media story.

Argiros is no stranger to heartfelt moments himself; just a few weeks ago in September, during a performance at the Royal Albert Hall, he paused mid-song to honour his heritage with a touching tribute to his mother. “Mama, your son is dancing zeibekiko at Albert Hall!” he proclaimed, a moment that quickly went viral.

Kobe White’s TikTok account is primarily dedicated to similar videos, where he often sings to his girlfriend while she sits on the couch listening.

In his Athina Mou rendition, we couldn’t help but notice that while serenading, he is simultaneously making his girlfriend a coffee, prompting all of us at Greek City Times to ask – “Who is this guy?!!” The Greek City Times team want to know!

Who Is Kobe White? Rising Star with a Passion for Music and Connection

Kobe White, born on 4th January 1999 in Melbourne, Australia, has been on a journey through the entertainment industry since a young age. Raised in Melbourne’s south-east suburbs, he discovered his love for music early, performing as one of Australia’s youngest Elvis impersonators at just four years old. “From the age of two, I remember falling in love with music and movies,” he recalls. Growing up in a musical family, Kobe’s path seemed almost predestined.

In 2009, he first made waves on Australia’s Got Talent, where he reached the finals, setting the stage for a promising career. Since then, he has performed across Australia and parts of the United States, refining his talents along the way. His interests broadened in his teenage years, leading him to take on roles in musical theatre productions like Beauty and the Beast, Peter Pan, and Singing in the Rain. “Acting gave me the freedom to express myself,” Kobe shares, describing how it allowed him to break down personal barriers.

As he matured, Kobe immersed himself in music theory, trained at the prestigious NIDA, and taught himself to play multiple instruments. After finishing high school, he ventured to Los Angeles to further develop his craft, learning from industry mentors and gaining insight into both the music and acting worlds. “Being in Los Angeles was a real culture shock in the best way possible,” he says, crediting the experience for shaping his dedication and work ethic.

Now 24, Kobe’s social media presence has grown significantly, with his singing videos garnering over a million views. His songs, inspired by personal experiences—including his seven-year relationship—speak to universal themes of love, loss, and growth. “I’ve been with my soulmate since I was 14,” he reveals, adding that the relationship’s highs and lows have become central themes in his music.

Once held back by fears of judgement, Kobe is now stepping forward to share his music unapologetically. “For so long, I worried about what people would think,” he admits. “Now, I just want to prove to myself what I’m capable of.” His tracks, like Run Away and Beautiful, showcase his emotional depth and ability to connect with audiences through honest storytelling.

Kobe White’s journey is only beginning, but his drive and dedication suggest a bright future ahead. Through his music and performances, he aims not only to entertain but to inspire. “If I can turn my experiences into something that makes people feel or get up and dance, then I’ve achieved what I set out to do,” he says, embracing the journey with a passion that fans are sure to follow.
