Greek Olives Help Reduce Cholesterol

The latest research findings suggest that Kalamata olives from Greece may help reduce bad cholesterol and help improve overall health. The study looked at participants aged 22 to 65 from the 401 Military Hospital in Athens.

One of the significant findings of the study included that Kalamata olives helped reduced LDL cholesterol along with improving HDL cholesterol.

It’s important to note that the study included healthy individuals, so the researcher’s next study will involve participants of different levels of health to determine the effects of Kalamata olives.

Kalamata olives, and olives in general, are a staple of the Mediterranean diet, which is often hailed for being the ideal diet to adhere to for optimal health. This diet is high in fruits and vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins, and healthy fats. It is low on processed food and sugar.

The study concluded that the consumption of Kalamata olives might help reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease along with improving cholesterol levels.

Olives contain good fats, which is why olive oil is often recommended. As with any food, it’s essential that you consume them in moderation and include them in an overall healthy balanced diet to maintain good health.
