Who is Amanda?

Amanda was born in Ålesund, Norway, to a Norwegian mother and Greek father, living in Greece before moving to Norway. She was even in the same class as the award-winning singer Sigrid, whose hits include Strangers and Mirror, when they attended school in Norway.

At just five years old, Amanda started taking piano lessons and in 2015 her song Run won the Music Prize and, before this, it appeared in an advertising video for Personskadeforbundet LTN in 2014.

The Eurovision biography reads: “Lauded by publications including The Fader and NME , her songs have travelled globally with support from the likes of Spotify and Apple, as well as thanks to features on Netflix series Spinning Out and the NRK and BBC3 co-production Nudes .

“When she’s not making music, Amanda studies medicine and has been doing her placement in a hospital for Covid-19 patients.”

Has Greece won Eurovision before?

Yes, Greece won Eurovision once in 2005 thanks to Helena Paparizou. Amanda could secure another win for Greece, but she will have to beat Ukraine’s Kalush Orchestra. The rap group is currently tipped to take home the crown, according to Betfair.

The gambling company states Ukraine’s odds are 2/5 as of yesterday (May 12). Monika will also have to out-sing TikTok star Sam Ryder, who will be representing the United Kingdom with his song Space Man, and many other countries.
