Giannis Antetokounmpo Adds ESPY To Season Accolade Haul

Giannis Antetokounmpo went home Wednesday with more celebratory hardware after being named the 2019 Best NBA Player at the ESPYS. This is further confirmation that the entire sports community acknowledges the ability the “Greek Freak” possesses. Giannis is, currently, in the midst of a whirlwind of opportunities spanning the globe. Already an international superstar, the humble NBA MVP connects young and old fans alike.

Nothing speaks more to your status in the NBA than your own signature shoe. An artistic expression meant to represent what a player is like on and off the court, signature shoes allow fans the chance to represent that player and feel closer to the game. Giannis has that status now and the Nike shoe contract to go along with it. The Nike Zoom Freak 1 is receiving considerable buzz from fans and sneakerheads all over. Add to the fact that the shoe is entirely customizable on Nikes’ digital platform, and that player to fan bonds completes.

The celebrations for Giannis are still ongoing but he will have little time to relax. Giannis committed to leading his Greek National Team in the upcoming FIBA World Cup. Along with brothers Thanasis and Kostas Antetokounmpo, he will do all in his power to elevate the play of his Greek teammates in hopes of winning a gold medal. More importantly, this is a chance for Giannis to work more on aspects of his game that need improvement. Low post moves, perimeter shooting, and reading the pick and roll are all areas that would make Giannis that much harder to contain.

This moment in time is a very special one for Giannis and the Antetokounmpo family. We are able to capture all of his highlights, the awards, and the custom shoes. What television and social media will never be able to truly capture is the journey. The journey is what tests you, strengthens you, motivates you, and ultimately creates the person you’ve come to be. The journey Giannis is on has captured the hearts of adoring fans here in the United States and around the world.
