FIBA Olympic Qualifiers final pairs: Giannis’ Greece, Bahamas advance / News

FIBA Olympic Qualifiers final matchups have been set as Brazil will face Latvia in Riga, Greece battle Croatia, and the Bahamas play Spain for a place in the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Most of the 2024 FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournaments (OQT) semifinals have been played, and three final pairs have been determined.

Brazil became the first country to advance to the final after beating Gilas Pilipinas. The South American representatives will play the host nation Latvia for the one-and-only ticket to the 2024 Paris Olympics.

In Piraeus, the host nation Greece, led by Giannis Antetokounmpo, advanced after eliminating Luka Doncic‘s Slovenia. They are set to face Croatia, which defeated the Dominican Republic.

There were no surprises in Valencia. The Bahamas comfortably beat Lebanon, while Spain prevailed against Finland. The Bahamas will aim for its first appearance in the Olympic basketball tournament and could become the smallest nation in history to play in it.

Bahamas national team Director of Operations LJ Rose told BasketNews how big of an achievement it would be.

“It would mean the world,” Rose told BasketNews about the possibility of playing in the Olympics. “We’re a small country, but very, very prideful people.”

The only unknown Olympic Qualifiers final pair remains in Puerto. Lithuania already beat Italy in the first semifinal and will face the winner of Puerto Rico – Mexico matchup.

All four finals will be played on Sunday, July 7.
