Enjoy some local Greek hospitality | News, Sports, Jobs

For close to four decades, members of All Saints Greek Orthodox Church have welcomed the community to join them in celebrating their history, their culture, and, especially, their food.

While some things have changed over those years, the hospitality offered by Weirton’s Greek community has remained.

It will be on display this Friday as the 37th Weirton Greek Festival returns, providing area residents with plenty of food, friendship and entertainment.

With a menu full of local favorites such as Greek chicken, fish, grape leaves, spanakopita, baklava, and, of course, the Super Gyro, there is sure to be something for everyone. Pre-orders wrapped up Tuesday, but there will still be some options available for those who want to stop by and pick up a couple favorites.

A disc jockey will be on site for much of the day, providing music for festival patrons, with the Aegean Dance Troop scheduled to perform for the crowd at 7 p.m.

For those wishing to learn more about the local Greek culture and history, tours of the church will be available.

Keep in mind, the Weirton Greek Festival isn’t just about food and fun, as a portion of the proceeds also are used to support charitable organizations and programs throughout the Weirton area.

We hope to see another successful year for All Saints, and encourage residents from far and wide to take some time to visit the festival Friday.
