ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) —– This year, parishioners at the Saint Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church celebrate the 100th anniversary of the church in the Rockford community.
The 12th annual Greek Fest kicked off at the church today, offering community members free admission, great music, and tasting delicious authentic Greek food and drinks.
The Hellenic marketplace was chock full of imported gifts, clothes and cookbooks.
Organizers say it’s a great way to share the very best of Greek culture with the Stateline.
“It doesn’t matter what nationality you are it’s just the experience of sharing your heritage,” says Maria Kostantacos. “You know we’re all a community and we are a melting pot so please everyone come out and join us.”
A portion of the annual event’s proceeds will go to support local charities.
