Starting in one of the first games of the Qatar World Cup 2022, Australia lost against France with a 4-1 score line, putting them at risk of getting kicked out of their group.
The game took place at the Al Janoub Stadium, with over 40,000 people in attendance to watch the game that saw the Socceroos lose to their French counterpart.
French football star Kylian Mbappe dominated the field by assisting in three of the four goals that were scored, with fellow players Ousmane Dembele and Olivier Giroud playing a large part in the end score of the game.
Olivier Giroud made waves by double equalling Thierry Henry’s record of 51 goals for France.
“They’re world champions for a reason,” Socceroos coach Graham Arnold said.
“The first half we did well, second half we ran out of legs a bit.”
Despite a brutal battle against France, the Australian soccer stars did their best to hold their ground until the final whistle blew.
The Soccerros are preparing for their second match against Tunisia which is set to be played on Saturday evening at the Al Janoub Stadium.
