Athens is glowing once again as the Christmas Village at Pedion tou Areos opens for 2025, bringing festive charm and new holiday experiences to the city center.
Following its successful 2024 season, which attracted more than one million visitors, the village is welcoming guests from November 28 to January 7, 2026, with concerts, shows and a Christmas market—all with free admission.
“Pedion tou Areos is once again coming alive with lights, music, colors, and images that bring the festive spirit to the city,” Attica Governor Nikos Hardalias said during a press briefing.
The opening party
The village opened with an impressive light show that lit up the Athenian sky, followed by performances from Greek singers Thodoris Ferris and Onemanshow, who entertained visitors with Greek and international music.
Earlier, the street band Lead Soldiers paraded through the village, playing Christmas classics with a fresh, upbeat sound.
Christmas fun for all ages
Open daily from 4:30pm to 10pm and on weekends from 10am to 10pm, the village features performances and artistic events for all ages, interactive educational games for children, colorful carousels, and festive delicacies.
Highlights include the country’s largest ice rink, a gourmet corner with traditional drinks and daily dishes, and elegant wooden houses selling handmade creations, gifts, and Christmas decorations. Visitors can also enjoy a silent disco, children’s workshops, festive face painting, themed photo corners, illuminated holiday paths created by leading designers, and tote-bag printing stations after concerts.
Children can explore tech-inspired installations, Santa’s House, and a special “water journey” area promoting sustainable water use through creative light displays and recycled-water routes. Guests can also take AI-enhanced photos with virtual props and try their luck in a seasonal game offering tote bags, vouchers, and festive gifts.

Introducing Xmas West Park
Hardalias also noted that the Christmas Village is now included in the Greek National Tourism Organization’s (GNTO) festive calendar on visitgreece.gr, calling it “a Christmas landmark for the entire country.”
Building on this momentum, the Attica Region will inaugurate Xmas West Park at Tritsis Park in Ilion, Western Attica, to boost its appeal as a premium Christmas destination. Under the motto “In the West, the holidays light up differently!”, the new park will present a vibrant festival inspired by the identity of Attica, adding a fresh celebratory experience to the region’s Christmas landscape.
