On Friday, July 18th, actors and musicians Jonathan Jackson and Clare Bowen (“Nashville” fame) performed at The Brokerage on Long Island for a good turnout.

“Thank you for being here,” Jackson said, effusively.

“We are so happy to be back here,” Bowen noted. “It’s a privilege and a pleasure to get to play with you,” they concurred.

Jackson his 2025 Daytime Emmy nomination

This past year, Jackson returned to the ABC daytime drama “General Hospital” and he earned an Emmy nomination for playing Lucky for “Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series,” a category that he has won multiple times (over the years, he has won a total of five Emmy awards).

On his 2025 Emmy nomination, he told the audience, “Thank you. It’s interesting because they changed the way that works.”

“The last time I was there, I would pick two episodes and I would send every scene from those two episodes, but this time, they didn’t have that,” he noted.

“They told me I could send in as many scenes from as many episodes as I wanted but it had to be under 15 minutes. So, I submitted scenes from many different shows. A part of my submission had my scenes with Genie at the church,” he elaborated.

Jackson on how the Greek Orthodox faith has impacted their lives

On the impact of his Greek Orthodox faith in his life, Jackson remarked, “It has really transformed our lives in many ways. We started traveling to Greece in 2015, and I’ve been there about nine or ten times now.”

“I’ve visited some of the most ancient monasteries in the world… some of them have been there for over 1,000 years,” he noted.

“The stone when you enter the church is worn down from centuries of people coming in and out. These monks pray eight to 14 hours a day in church, and they are hidden away on a mountain somewhere in Northern Greece. They pray for us and the world,” he elaborated.

“It’s a humbling thought knowing that there are a few thousand souls out there on a mountain dedicating their lives praying for all of us. We all know how tough it is in the world. Our faith means everything to us; that’s where it all comes from,” he explained.

Acoustic show

Jackson began their acoustic set with “Moon Is High” and continued with “World on Time” and the equally impressive tune “The Giver.”

Bowen and Jackson revealed that they will be performing at the iconic Ryman Auditorium in Nashville as part of the “Nashville: Encore” Tour in January of 2026.

In their rendition of “Not in Nottingham” from Disney’s “Robin Hood,” Bowen’s crisp vocals were pure as the driven snow.

Jackson invited his wife, Elisa, on stage with her and that resonated well with the crowd. Elisa went on to tell everyone the story of how they met on set (ironically enough on “General Hospital”) and how they ended up together. “I am so glad you are here,” Bowen told Elisa.

On working with Anthony Geary and Genie Francis, Jackson remarked, “That was one of the most important experiences of my life. I love Genie so much; she protected me as a young performer.”

Young and Bowen performed “If I Didn’t Know Better,” which is the first song they sang together at the Bridgestone Arena as part of “Nashville” Tour.

A neat moment was when Brandon Young sang Beyonce’s “Halo” with Bowen on the angelic harmonies (she maintained solid control over her voice).

Jackson closed with “Darkest of Hours,” as well as “A Life That’s Good,” which felt like a prayer and an ideal sendoff for the audience. They expressed their gratitude to the fans for helping them make their dreams come true, and they wished them all the same in return.

“Lord, I pray you have a life that’s good,” all the artists said in unison, and their performance of “A Life That’s Good” earned them a standing ovation.

The Verdict

Overall, Jonathan Jackson and Clare Bowen put on a delightful live show at The Brokerage in Bellmore on Long Island. This show was a joyful expression of music and storytelling.

They all sang with one microphone (in total) and that felt like an unplugged version where the artists were singing in the audience’s living room.
