Jimmy Page is still regarded as a legendary musician to this day. Decades after he first made his name known in the rock world as part of Led Zeppelin, he’s not producing smashes like he used to, but he’s back on one chart ahead of an exciting new release.
The rocker joins another hugely successful and influential band in scoring a quick top 40 bestseller. Page joins The Black Crowes on the tune “The Lemon Song,” which hit iTunes on Tuesday (February 25). As of the time of writing, the track appears at No. 33 on iTunes’s list of the bestselling songs across America on the important platform.
“The Lemon Song” is, of course, a Led Zeppelin composition. The tune was featured on the group’s sophomore set Led Zeppelin II, but now Page has reclaimed it for himself, and he’s not alone.
The Black Crowes are credited alongside Page as lead artists on “The Lemon Song.” The track is actually named “The Lemon Song (Sound Check) (Live),” as the tune was recorded during a sound check as Page and the rock band warmed up for an thrilling gig.
The two musical acts are about to release an expanded edition of their album Live at the Greek. The full-length was recorded in 1999 as the stars performed at the legendary music venue in Los Angeles. On March 14, the deluxe re-release of Live at the Greek will arrive, and in order to entice fans, “The Lemon Song” has been shared as a special preview.
The upcoming release will feature 15 new tracks which have been added to the original 2000 album. Several Led Zeppelin classics will be featured on the set, as will a number of The Black Crowes’ tunes.
The quick success of “The Lemon Song” demonstrates the ongoing popularity of Page and The Black Crowes. It also shows that while the Live at the Greek album may be a quarter-century old, there’s still interest in that title specifically and, more broadly, everything connected to the two acts.
