Seems a bit odd to reference a 40 year old document on Soviet force mobilization strategy as a description of how mobilization works today. Putin's absolute clusterf**k of a partial mobilization, especially in light of the mass exodus of hundreds of thousands of military-aged men, shouldn't scare anyone as badly as it scares Posen. He acts as if there is extant in-unit training personnel and infrastructure to absorb and prepare those mobiks for effective service when it's documented that thousands upon thousands of them have already been shipped to the front with no training and defective kit. There's been no evidence that the Russian MoD has any idea what to do with the men they've shanghaied into service. In spite of their disastrous performance, Posen still seems to think they're the die-to-the-last-man heroes of Stalingrad and not a hungry, ill-used rabble who are being churned into meat by the hundreds every day.
Thank you for posting. I wish there was more quality analysis, especially covering some of the lesser talked about issues. A couple of suggestions? 1) Please figure a way to sync the remote audio portion. 2) Mr. Posen, your analysis was my favorite. However, please remember slapping the table for emphasis comes through the microphone a good bit louder for listeners later. Cheers!
"Turret toss" is going to be added to every FPS henceforth.
Yes
That makes sense . The serious fight is not now.
Thank you for making these discussions publicly available. I am always searching for high quality analysis of the war. It's by carefully studying and understanding war that we can best prevent it in the future.
